But Xplore’s efforts to teach people how to use digital technology goes beyond the doors of the lounge. Their TechKidz program brings technology into the classrooms of primary schools with kids climbing over each other to get a peek at the latest pieces of digital technology. The “Go Wacom” activity in this program introduces students to ability to draw on the computer by first visiting the schools, then bringing students to the lounge. Students who have drawn with pencil, paintbrush, pen and paper all their lives are fascinated with the ability use a computer to explore their creative talents. |

When Xplore staff first visit schools to generate interest in students, the kids respond with tremendous enthusiasm: “We did this activity for 3 days at a school to generate interest in students for Wacom, and in all about 500 students experienced Wacom in the school and the whole school got to know about Wacom,” the staff tells us. Students who want to learn more about Wacom sign up at these school visits and are brought to the Xplore lounge to participate in the “Go Wacom” activity there. In two hour sessions, they learn how to use the Wacom tablets in more detail and begin developing their skills for digital art. In groups, they gather around the computers and Wacom tablets in the lounge to play and experiment with drawing, digital painting, and editing digital photos. Xplore even provides them with snacks and a surprise gift for coming! Thank you Xplore for nurturing the creative talent of our children! |
